"SPAIN is still one of the wilder places of Europe - its biodiversity
conscience!
The beauty and variety of its landscapes
from the evergreen estuaries of Galicia, the arid plains of Castille,
desert landscapes of Almeria to the mountainous peaks of the Sierras
and the coastal wetlands of Donana in Andalucia have provided me
with inspiration and ample photographic opportunities.
With such a broad range of habitats
Spain's flora and fauna is truly fascinating!
Many images from this exhibtion were
taken in Donana - the most important wetland in Spain - with a distinctive
habitat suited to a great variety of wildlife, especially birds.
Thus, over 60,ooo acres of the Rio
Guadalquivir - the largest roadless area in Western Europe - with
its sand dunes, pine woods, marshes and freshwater lagoons form
one of the finest wetlands in Europe, now home to a startling variety
of migratory birds!
As a wildlife photographer and a member of the RPS NATURE GROUP
I feel I have the duty not only to make people aware of Nature's
beauty but also to awaken their conscience to the fragility of the
Ecosystem." - Diana Elena Antonescu
